The following species may be used as character races:
Each of these species come with their own unique attributes.
Angels: Angels have been around since the creation of the world and are known for their wisdom and sometimes robotic use of pragmatism. As skilled soldiers, angels are second to none when it comes to swordplay and shun modern weaponry. Though they have wings and the ability to fly, angels have long ago forgotten how to use magic beyond healing. Modern day angels often take up medical or military professions.
Demons: Like angels, demons have been in the world as long as it existed. Unlike the celestial angels, they prefer to let their actions be guided by more basic instincts. Governed by emotion, desire, and self interest, demons are often attracted to centers of worldly pleasures such a bars, casinos, and the like.
Elementals: Elementals are earthbound spirits that embody one of the four elements. Humanoid in appearance, these spirits are as old as the angels and demons. Individual elementals have power over one element each and often reflect their element physically as well as in temperament. For instance, fire elementals often have red hair and short tempers, eart elementals are often brunette and stubborn, air elementals blonde and rational, and water elementals are often prone to deep emotions and empathy.
Elves: Elves are the recluses of the world. Often avoiding other races, elves prefer the depths of forests to urban settings, though it is not unheard of for a rebellious young elf to venture into the city. Elves shun modern technology and prefer to live off the land in familial societies or on their own as hermits. Though they are immortal, elves are not invincible and can die from wounds and injuries.
Fae: Much like the elves physically, the fae are more likely to embrace the modern. Though their are sylvan by nature, the fae will regularly make trips to cities for various reasons and are much less reclusive. Like angels, fae also possess wings and the ability to fly.
Humans: Once the majority populace, humans are becoming more and more scarce due to being caught in the crossfire of warring factions as well as breeding with other species. Humans are currently enjoying an average lifespan of 80-100 years due to advanced medical technology. They are also able to breed universally with the other races, making them somewhat of a coveted romantic partner.
Shape Shifter: At first glance, shape shifters are no different than the average human. Don't let looks deceive you, though. Shifters possess the ablilty to change into multiple animals at will, so long as they have physically touched the animal to "acquire" it. Shifters can be found in any environment and are very fond of travel.
Vampires: Though they are immortal, all vampires started out as humans. As they traverse through the millennia, a vampire may begin to forget what it was like to be human. Often solitary, vampires are very territorial. That being said, they are also prone to world weariness, boredom, and loneliness. This can lead to the creation of fledgelings through an exchange of blood, purely for entertainment's sake. Vampires can only be killed by fire or the separation of the head from the body.
Werewolves: Unlike vampires, werewolves are born and not made. Being a werewolf is hereditary and cannot be reversed. Young werewolves often have trouble controlling their transformations and wolf forms, but gain more control with age and experience. A mature werewolf can change forms at will and maintain full consciousness in wolf form. Despite this, all werewolves MUST shift at the full moon. More often than not, werewolves prefer to live in family packs on the outskirts of society. They are able to blend into society flawlessly, but feel more comfortable when nature is close. Like humans, the average lifespan of a werewolf is 80-100 years.
Witches: All witches are human, but not all humans are witches. Witches are humans who have studied the arcane. They often specialize in several fields such as divination, conjuring, and herbal arts. Witches are social chameleons. While some prefer to function in covens, others seek the life of a hermit. Often, witches can be found hanging around other species in an attempt to study them.
